Dark Matter: Problem and Paradigm

Abstract
Dark Matter is everywhere! It fills the large spaces between galaxies and
concentrates around them in gigantic clouds. Although invisible, it reveals
its presence by its immense gravitational pull. Particle physicists believe
that it is made up by some "exotic" kind of matter, different from the
"ordinary" matter surrounding us with its protons, neutrons and electrons.
Prticle physicist's most promising candidate is the neutralino, a
fundamental particle,not yet discovered in the laboratory. But there are
also other explanations: Axions, Machos, black holes, modified Newtonian
gravity and much more! This is a typical example of how science functions:
we make models, try to fit their predictions to the
experimental reality and finally we apply Occam's razor! So, what is YOUR
personal bet on Dark Matter?
