Since 2008 Svetla and I have been discussing the idea to organize an annual winter school (workshop) on the foundations of science in Cuba. Finally, we found the right place - in the second half of January 2011 we spent two weeks in Club Karey (Varadero, Cuba), which consists of the summer houses of rich people built in the thirties. We reached a tentative agreement with the manager of Club Karey and the main manager of the company to which the hotel belongs and the workshop will start next winter.

Update - The idea of the annual workshops is now put on hold until we find a way to organize the workshops directly with the Cuban side as originally planned. As the Cuban hotel managers (with whom we had an agreement) did not have such a case before (neither did we) they suggested that the organization be done through the Canadian travel agencies. However, it turned out that the agencies do not make reservations for an international group and they control virtually everything including how much we should pay for the hotel (the Cuban side has no say).

Now we will bypass the travel agencies and will go ahead with our initial plan - to organize the annual event in cooperation with the University of Matanzas "Camilo Cienfuegos" or with the University of Havana.
